Today
Wow-so I haven't posted in awhile because I have been CRAZY BUSY! I am currently working on 4 video projects that are huge for me. 2 for Houghton, 1 for the prison, and thinking about 1 for church! Its been nuts thats all I can say.
So what significant has happened since the last time I post. Well here is a few highlights.
-One of my best friends turned 20! I love you FISH!
-I watched Pauly fall in the mud and almost wet my pants. Only second to when he fell off the diving board.
-T-rev came up with a new phrase. "Cackle Monkeys" I have dubbed him officially as the funniest person I know because he is hilarious and our last phone conversation started with "Hi, its retard, and by that I mean Trevor" because he needed a bit of help on printing to video.
-I laughed so hard with the girls I almost choked
-Kevin (J) taught me some sweet audio stuff
-I went to charcoal with the Danners and Housemate and learned a lot about life.
Those are just some highlights of many.
The main thing I wanted to post about tho was today. Today Dave (my professor) and I taped at Journey's end in Buffalo. It was a great experience. I guess I owe a big apology to Bree (I would call her but she is in Costa Rica..Bree if you reading this I call you when you get back). Bree always gets frustrated with me when I say people should speak English if they are in America. It honestly frustrates me but today I got a different view of things that rocked my world. Journey's End helps place refuges into homes in Buffalo and helps them with adjusting to American culture. (Learning English etc).
It was a humbling experience to be in a classroom with refuges learning English and being engaged. I can't put it into words how I feel but it was just this crazy feeling. We also spent a lot of time with a girl from Journey's End and the work she does is amazing. It makes me so grateful that there are good people willing to give up everything for God. I only wish I could be that humble and giving.
The most intense part of the day for me was I went to tape a family of Liberians doing daily things. They spoke English really well so it was interesting to overhear conversation the girl from Journeys' End was having with them. They are doing the best they can trying to go to school, playing soccer etc. Tonight they were preparing a meal for a new family that is arriving tonight so that they have there own food when they first arrive.
After leaving them the girl from Journey's end was telling me that there family was involved in the genocide in Rwanda and they saw there father be decapitated. Again, something I didn't care about that Bree tried to make me aware of.
Today I saw refuges in a whole new light. It makes me sit here at my brand new computer with my iPod and my new car and my Bose headphones, my books, all my stuff and just want to cry. Thats all I can say because I can't express how I feel.
When will more Christians start to care? "Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the law of our God you people of Gomorrah! The multitude of your sacrifices what are they to me?" says to the LORD. "I have more than enough of burn offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. When you come to appear before me who has asked this of you, the trampling of my courts? Stop bring meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations-I cannot bear your evil assemblies. Your New Moon festivals and you appointed feasts my soul hates. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood; wash and maker yourselves clean. Take your evil deed out of my sight! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow." -Isaiah 1:10-17
I will change my world.
