Average? The average thoughts of a typical college kid just trying to make it though in one piece.

Weekend thus far

Well the weekend thus far has been pretty good. Friday night my life hit an all new low. So I don't know what makes me more of a dork the fact I spent 4 hrs. playing Settlers of Catan or that I spent 4 hrs. playing Settlers of Catan with a few friends and my bib-lit TA. Haha. Also had some fun playing racquetball with Ashley, Walker, and my Roomie. Doubles are scary! I beat my roommate for the first time in like a month then lost 2 games to Walker I think that makes the over all 9-2...Walker with 9.

So what have a been learning lately? I sat down to read some stuff for the first time all week yesterday. It was really good. It was talking about how big God is. It was a good reminder. It asked when was the last time you gloried in Gods power. I think one of the last times I did that was after a very pivotal conversation I had at summer camp last year. We were walking back to the hotel kinda late and it was thundering and lighting and raining but not around us. The person I was with stopped and just commented on how awesome God was and that lightning storms reminded him of how powerful God is. As I stood there contemplating God and college and the future (yup all in one...rough night) I felt Gods love and power and just marveled in it. I think that is the last time I was in awe of God. I miss those times.

Back to the Sabres game...I love hockey.

Not so good

Yeah-that pre-essay excitement turned out to be not so good. I think I failed and I mean that honestly and just a piety party for Kerry but reality. Western Civ=not my strong point.

Today was pretty good besides the Western Civ test. Hung out with the girls tonight at Subway. Always good to get off campus food and have some laughs. I think we all have crazy weeks this week so it was just good to be able to take some time to chill out.

GREAT DAY....even better mix

Well today was fan-freaken-tastic. So I felt like crap because of some bad wings, because of this I decided to skip my 9:00 class. Woke up and read my email 9:00 class was cancelled. Peace of the city did chapel. Awesome. Made a pizza for dinner. Awesome. Came back checked my email low and behold email from Western Civ Professor that gives us the essay question for tomorrows test. FREAKEN AWESOME.

Yesterday.
"The mix at Koin was our gift to anyone that came to SPOT"-Walker and Me

So sound for SPOT sucked. Walker and I (and i think i can say this, if not i'm sure he will correct me) are pretty particular about the way we mix. And I do say we because its a team effort. Although I mixed yesterday he EQ'd some stuff that I suck at like the acoustic guitar. So anyway, we came up with a hum-dinger of a mix let me tell ya. We mic'd the whole KIT and moved the stage over. It sounded awesome. A couple of people even came up to the booth to tell us.

Paul: "I just got here but the mix sounds great....I bet you it sounds good everywhere"

It was pretty awesome. It was definitely helped by a great band with great gear.

and it is all about Christ and providing a great worship experience for the community. Thats the most important thing by far.

SPOT

Well SPOT was pretty interesting. I have to say I enjoyed it except the sound was really really bad. (I know I am picky, but honestly everyone noticed....probably cause you couldn't here anyone speaking or singing!)

So SPOT weekend is the biggest weekend on campus for techies. It was super chill tho. Ya know all the goodness of carrying truss pieces in the poring rain from the CC to the Chapel, worrying about falling off the balcony, trying to explain to a band why you need them to shut up for 5 minutes, wondering if you were going to get the extension cord ends in time to hook up the lighting, wondering if Derek was ever going to come or if Greg Bish would ever shut-up, and the show not following the script. Why in the world do we have scripts at Houghton. Every-time i have been given a script at Houghton things would have ran smoother w/o one.

Overall for me and my friends end show went well. For the sound people not so well. There we some good quotes over the night.

(QUOTE OF THE NIGHT) "Well I don't have the strength but I can screw well." -trying to set up the 100lb truss stands

"Wow we have gone to a whole new level in our relationship. We went from sexual innuendoes to just out right sexual jokes"-sometime after the above comment (which was completely innocent at the time I was screwing in a screw)

"I'm glad your small-it would have taken Derek and me 20 minutes to move everything out of the way to get those out." -after I crawled in behind the mother-ship to get the v's"

"I'm small and I can screw" -Yes, I'm a good techie.

"What time does this actually start?"--well informed techies

"Well 1-5 either means we are going to be done at 4 or we are going to be done at 7" -yup we only had an hour for dinner that meant 1pm to 1 am." --knowledgeable techies

"Lets go get some toastitoes" - 5 min before doors all the lighting people drove down to the gas station to get some food

"Tip the tech guys...$5 per person is good"-On screen announcement.

"Go home, I mean it, If you stay you have to clean, please put the monitors in the closet they are heavy, please."-On Screen Announcement

Nice--I just now realized I have sound check in 10 minutes and I am still in PJ's.

I love how Houghton changed our worship time around the super bowl. What a showing of Christian excellence.
